A wine without frills, straightforward and authentic. Valpolicella Classico DOC "Pozzetto" is the true emblem of the Valle di Fumane.

There’s a place in Valpolicella Classica where the land tells ancient tales, guarded by the wind and the sun, and where time seems to stand still to reveal the deepest essence of nature. That place is the Valle di Fumane, and that story comes alive in every sip of Ugolini Vini’s Valpolicella Classico DOC "Pozzetto".

Born from the historic vineyard of the same name, this wine is a true declaration of intent: to make even the smallest everyday moments special. At 160 meters above sea level, at the foot of Villa San Michele, the Pozzetto Cru hosts Corvina, Rondinella, and Croatina vines that sink their roots into calcareous and detrital soil. Here, among the rows trained in the Veronese pergola system, Ugolini Vini shapes a wine capable of standing alone, without embellishments or artifices: no drying, no aging in wood, just the straightforwardness of a vinification that respects the natural character of the grape.

Pozzetto: A wine that tells a family story

Behind every bottle of Pozzetto lies a deep connection to the land and the past. It's the "Founder's Wine," a tribute to the history of the Ugolini family, its roots that intertwine Tuscany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and a dream cultivated on the hills of Valpolicella Classica. A wine that a father explains to a son, a legacy of identity to be handed down, an expression of a tradition that renews itself.

The Ugolini family has passed down this love for the land for generations and, in 1996, transformed it into a project dedicated to the memory of its roots. And Pozzetto is the symbol of this philosophy: authentic, direct, rooted in the territory.

A long-aged Valpolicella Classico

Despite its apparent lightness, Pozzetto is a wine that defies time. Thanks to its balanced structure and acidity, it can continue to evolve in the bottle for 10-15 years, offering new emotions every time. Aging is one of the most distinctive features of Pozzetto, which therefore differs from a normal Valpolicella Classico due to its prolonged period of rest in the bottle. Where a Valpolicella Classico reaches full maturity in a few months, Pozzetto gives its best organoleptic qualities 3 or 4 years after the harvest. For this reason, at Villa San Michele it is currently possible to taste the 2020 vintage.

A wine that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary

Valpolicella Classico DOC "Pozzetto" presents itself with a luminous and evocative ruby red color. On the nose, powerful scents of cherry and marasca intertwine with the delicacy of rose and the spicy touch of black pepper. On the palate, it offers a pleasant acidity, synonymous with freshness, and a frankness that conquers for its joyful simplicity. It is an immediate, accessible wine, but at the same time deep, capable of telling the story of the territory in every sip.

With a limited production of just 6,466 bottles and 150 magnums, Valpolicella Classico DOC "Pozzetto" is a rare gem, an example of how simplicity can become elegance and how the history of a land can be preserved in a bottle.
